What is cold process soap?
The type of soap Grandma made is called “cold process” soap. It is made by combining oils and/or fats with sodium hydroxide (lye). The chemical reaction that is created from combining the oils and/or fats with the sodium hydroxide is called “saponifaction.” During saponification, the oils and sodium hydroxide mix and become soap. The entire process from mixing to curing takes 4 to 6 weeks. Cold process soap is known for its luxurious quality and wonderful moisturizing properties. The types of oils, additives (such as herbs, exfoliants, etc.) and butters used in the process determine the kind of properties the soap will have.
I offer a 20% wholesale discount on bulk orders of 50 bars or more. My custom order listings already reflect these savings. My margins are low as I use high quality ingredients and essential oils, (which are costly) so I can only discount to a certain extent. I include free shipping on bulk orders.
Soaps bars are handcrafted and hand cut, each bar may differ slightly in appearance from those pictured and will be one of a kind.
